Teva gets FDA OK for Uniretic generic |

NEW YORK (AP) - Israel-based Teva Pharmaceutical Industries Ltd., the world's largest maker of generic drugs, said Friday it received Food and Drug Administration approval to make a generic version of a high blood pressure drug made by German drug maker Schwarz Pharma AG.The company received approval to sell three different doses combining moexipril hydrochloride and hydrochlorothiazide, the active ingredients in Schwarz Pharma's Uniretic tablets. Uniretic is sold for the treatment of hypertension.Teva said it will begin shipping the drug immediately.Schwarz Pharma reported U.S. Uniretic sales of 26.3 million euros (about $34 million) in 2006.Shares of Teva shares rose 13 cents to $36.71 in morning trading on the Nasdaq Stock Market.Copyright 2007 Associated Press.
