PARIS (Thomson Financial) - Swiss financial data provider Telekurs has called a news conference for 2 pm in the wake of a report it will buy a majority stake in France's Fininfo.Asked about the report, a Telekurs spokesman said: 'All I can say is that there will be a conference call at 1400 CET.'French daily La Tribune, without naming its sources, said Fininfo's majority shareholder Gerard Jeulin has decided to sell his 52 pct stake to Telekurs. It said he wanted to sell the stake to a single buyer.Fininfo shares have been suspended at the request of the company ahead of a statement, Euronext Paris said.Noone at Telekurs was available to comment.Yesterday Fininfo shares closed 0.35 eur or 2.38 pct lower at 14.31 eur, giving the company a market capitalisation of 185 mln eur.An analyst contacted by Thomson Financial News last month said Telekurs would only be able to reap synergies from Fininfo's financial information. He did not believe the French firm's credit reporting business would fit into Telekurs' offering.Andrew.Newby@thomson.comjmt/anCOPYRIGHTCopyright AFX News Limited 2007.
