WASHINGTON (AP) - Boeing Co. on Tuesday will update the market on a disputed $15 billion Air Force contract it is vying for which calls for replacing 141 search-and-rescue helicopters used in combat operations. The Boeing executive overseeing the company's bid, Rick Lemaster, will hold a conference call with reporters at 10 a.m. EDT.The contract was initially awarded to Chicago-based Boeing on Nov. 9. But losing bidders Lockheed Martin Corp. and Sikorsky Aircraft, a unit of United Technologies Corp., filed protests with the Government Accountability Office, and that led the Air Force to re-bid the contract.Lockheed and Sikorsky filed a second round of protests last month, claiming the Air Force was not following the GAO's recommendations for the second bidding process. The Air Force is expected to select a new winning bidder this fall.Copyright 2007 Associated Press.
