LONDON (Thomson Financial) - House prices accelerated in October, going against the grain of other surveys that have shown prices falling in recent months, government figures showed today. The Department of Communities and Local Government said the annual rate of house price inflation in October was 11.3 pct, up from 10.8 pct in September. The government data, based on completed property sales, lag other surveys from industry groups like the Nationwide and Halifax. Those two surveys showed UK house prices actually fell in November from October, with the Halifax index dropping for the third month in a row.alex.brittain@thomson.comabr/ejbCOPYRIGHTCopyright Thomson Financial News Limited 2007.
