Mine Safety Appliances elects director

PITTSBURGH (AFX) - Mine Safety Appliances Inc., a maker of protective equipment, said Friday it elected Robert A. Bruggeworth to its board of directors.

Bruggeworth serves as president and chief executive of chip maker RF Micro Devices Inc.

Bruggeworth is replacing Calvin A. Campbell Jr., who is retiring from the Mine Safety Appliances board in May.

Mine Safety Appliances shares fell 28 cents to close at $39.32 on the New York Stock Exchange.
