Bear Stearns names Goldstein to board

NEW YORK (AFX) - Bear Stearns Co. said Wednesday Michael Goldstein has been elected to the board of directors and will serve as a member of the audit committee.

Goldstein is the retired chairman and chief executive of Toys 'R' Us Inc.

Shares of Bear Stearns fell 63 cents to $164.62 on the New York Stock Exchange in midday trading.
