BEIJING (XFN-ASIA) - Google China has apologized for the unauthorized use of rival search engine Sohu.com's proprietary language database in its recently launched character input software. The company posted a statement on its company blog yesterday saying it had upgraded its software and removed Sohu's database resources from the service after Sohu asked it to shut down the software on April 8.According to local media, Google China launched the beta version of its character input software on April 4, but was quickly criticized for suggesting word choices exclusive to Sohu's search engine Sogou, including auto-completion phrases that brought up names for Sohu employees.Sohu claimed it never made its Chinese phrase database public.joshua.lipes@xfn.com
