COPENHAGEN (Thomson Financial) - Danish pharmaceutical company Neurosearch said its license partner Astellas has initiated a clinical phase 1b study for the drug ACR16 for treatment of schizophrenia.The initiation of the study does not change Neurosearch's financial expectations for 2007 of a pretax loss of 80-100 mln dkr, the group said.ACR16 is a novel compound in a class of agents called dopaminergic stabilisers and has shown promising behavioural effects in preclinical models for psychoses including schizophrenia, said Neurosearch.Astellas holds the rights to ACR16 for all indications except Huntington's disease, where Neurosearch has the rights in North America and Europe, Neurosearch said, adding that it is currently preparing clinical phase 3 studies with ACR16 for the treatment of Huntington's disease.gustav.sandstrom@thomson.comgs/gpCOPYRIGHTCopyright AFX News Limited 2007.
