Munich Re's Ergo, Unicredito expand cooperation in Central and Eastern Europe

MUNICH (Thomson Financial) - Muenchener Rueckversicherungs AG said its Ergo unit and Italian banking group Unicredito have agreed to expand their existing cooperation in Germany, Austria and Poland to new markets in Central and Eastern Europe.

Under the new agreement, Ergo is also to distribute its life and non-life insurance products through branches of Unicredito subsidiaries in Romania, Slovakia, Slovenia, Hungary, Russian and Poland.

In the medium term, the cooperation is to be extended to Serbia, Ukraine, Bosnia and the Baltic states.
