Abraxis gets tentative generic Kytril OK |

SCHAUMBURG, Ill. (AP) - Biotechnology company Abraxis BioScience Inc. said its hospital business Abraxis Pharmaceutical Products received tentative Food and Drug Administration approval for generic Kytril.The injectible drug is made by Hoffmann-La Roche and treats side effects from cancer therapy including nausea and vomiting. Roche's patent is set to expire either Dec. 29. or June 28, if the company receives pediatric exclusivity for the drug.Barr Pharmaceuticals Inc. has also received tentative approval for a generic version of the drug.Shares of Abraxis closed at $21.73 Monday.Copyright 2007 Associated Press.
