LONDON (Thomson Financial) - Elan Corporation PLC said a recent study shows increased proportion of patients have achieved disease-free status with its multiple sclerosis treatment Tysabri, and that the study will be presented at the congress of the European Committee for Treatment and Research in Multiple Sclerosis on Oct 12.The drug developer said it will also present the findings from a Plex study which suggest that plasma exchange may be an effective means of accelerating the removal of Tysabri from the circulation.Separately, Elan said new data on the global utilisation and safety of Tysabri suggests at end-September about 17,000 patients were on commercial and clinical therapy worldwide, and that the safety data to date continues to support a favorable benefit-risk profile for Tysabri.TFN.newsdesk@thomson.comypv/lamCOPYRIGHTCopyright Thomson Financial News Limited 2007.
