Helsinki shares higher at midday on bargain hunting, Nokia recovers |

HELSINKI (AFX) - Helsinki shares were higher in midday trade led by Nokia on bargain-hunting following recent lows, traders said.At 12.14 pm, the OMX Helsinki 25 was 1.09 pct higher at 2,865.94 and the OMX Helsinki was up 1.24 pct at 9,442.90 on 451 mln eur turnover.Nokia -- up 1.91 pct to 14.91 eur -- recovered from yesterday's losses to lead the market into the black.The share was dented yesterday by news that Apple Computer will launch iPhone, a new music mobile phone.Paper stocks were firmer, with UPM-Kymmene adding 1.77 pct to 18.98 eur, Stora Enso R gaining 1.68 pct to 12.10 eur and M-real B advancing 2.21 pct to 4.63 eur.Paper shares were indifferent from a report published by Finnish financial daily Taloussanomat saying that Finnish paper companies are facing a shortage of wood due to mild winter weather, which might lead to shutting down some paper mills.Among energy issues, Neste Oil added 2.57 pct to 22.38 eur and Fortum lifted 0.34 pct to 20.65 eur amid falling oil prices.Of the industrials, Outokumpu advanced 2.49 pct to 27.98 eur, Metso gained 0.74 pct to 37.89 eur, Kone was up 0.85 pct to 41.68 eur and Wartsila B was 0.84 pct higher at 39.73 eur.azer.sawiris@afxnews.comafs/ambCOPYRIGHTCopyright AFX News Limited 2006.
