FDA wants more data on Merck nausea drug |

WHITEHOUSE STATION, N.J. (AP) - Drug maker Merck & Co. Inc. said Friday government regulators want more information about a new version of an antinausea drug which the company is trying to get approved.Merck said it received a letter from the Food and Drug Administration saying drug reviewers want to see more data on manufacturing and other issues related to an intravenous version of Emend, which treats nausea and vomiting caused by chemotherapy. The drug is currently only available in pill form.Merck said it plans to submit the requested information within a few months. Merck said it usually takes the FDA six months to respond to additional data submissions.Shares of Merck & Co. Inc. rose 92 cents Friday to close at $52.Copyright 2007 Associated Press.
