NEW YORK (AP) - Dow Jones & Co. said Monday advertising revenue at its flagship newspaper, The Wall Street Journal, fell 3.4 percent in May, hurt by weaker technology, general and classified advertising volume.The company said overall advertising volume dropped by 7.3 percent in May at the Journal, as technology advertising fell 30.5.General advertising volume declined by 5.8 percent on weaker auto, media and other consumer advertising, while classified volume slipped by 3.3 percent on fewer residential real estate ads. Financial advertising rose 0.1 percent.Dow Jones said advertising revenue at Barron's grew by 2 percent in May, aided by a 3.6 percent increase in advertising pages.International advertising revenue grew 47.4 percent on stronger financial and general advertising in the Journal's overseas editions.Ad revenue at the local media group, which includes community newspapers, fell by 5.7 percent on a 12.1 percent decline in volume.Shares of Dow Jones slipped 21 cents to $60.21.Copyright 2007 Associated Press.
