Alitalia posts drop in market share, rise in passenger revenue in 2006 - report

MILAN (AFX) - Alitalia SpA in 2006 reported a fall in domestic and intercontinental market share but an increase in revenue from overall passenger traffic, the weekly Il Mondo reported, citing internal company documents.

The weekly said that revenues from passenger traffic have risen to 3.75 bln eur from 3.55 bln eur in 2005.

Alitalia's domestic market share in 2006 fell to 46.6 pct from 47.9 pct, while its share of the intercontinental market fell to 23.3 pct from 24.1 pct. The international business market share however rose to 26.1 pct from 25.2 pct, the weekly said.
