VIENNA (Thomson Financial) - Austria's inflation rate in March reached 1.8 pct in March, up 0.2 percentage points from February's revised figure of 1.6 pct, according to Statistik Austria, the Austrian statistics agency.The consumer price index for March increased by 0.5 percentage points month-on-month to 102.8, compared to the base rate of 100 set by Statistik Austria in 2005.When calculated under the EU's harmonised system, the inflation rate for March stood at 1.9 pct, up 0.2 percentage points on the revised figure for February.Rises in rental, food and energy prices continued to be the prime contributors to inflation, accounting for two-thirds of the annualised inflation rate.peter.klopf@thomson.compkl/jagCOPYRIGHTCopyright AFX News Limited 2007.
