LONDON (AFX) - The enlarged package tour operator created from the merger MyTravel Group PLC and KarstadtQuelle's Thomas Cook, announced this morning, it will not pursue an acquisition of First Choice Holiday PLC's mainstream business, which is up for sale.MyTravel has held early stage talks with First Choice, and reports indicated Thomas Cook has also taken a look at the business.However MyTravel's chief executive Peter McHugh said the new company, which is to retain the Thomas Cook name, will not pursue an acquisition.'This merger is quite a feat unto itself,' he told reporters on a conference call this morning.First Choice is selling the package tour business to focus on specialist, activity and long-haul holidays.amy.brown@thomson.comab/nesCOPYRIGHTCopyright AFX News Limited 2006.
