NEW YORK (AP) - Swedish telecommunications equipment company LM Ericsson said Monday it bought Entrisphere, a fiber access technology company based in Santa Clara, Calif.Ericsson did not disclose financial terms of the deal.The company said the purchase strengthens its fixed broadband access portfolio and its position in converged networks. Fiber technology is used for high definition Internet Protocol TV and other IP-based services with a high bandwidth demand, Ericsson added.Ericsson's American Depositary shares fell 52 cents to $35.92 in afternoon trading on the Nasdaq.Copyright 2006 Associated Press.
