BEIJING (XFN-ASIA) - Australia's First Data International and China UnionPay (CUP) have launched a joint service providing Chinese visitors with access to First Data's Cashcard ATM network, the largest in Australia.

CUP cardholders now have access to over 5,800 cash card ATMs in Australia, the two companies said in a joint statement.

The companies said they have also reached an agreement to expand their relationship and promote the acceptance of CUP cards in markets outside China.

'Together, First Data and CUP will promote the acceptance of CUP cards in certain global markets, at ATMs and at merchant point-of-sale locations using First Data systems,' the companies said.

'First Data will also provide transactions, routing and payment processing services,' the statement added.

Jeffery Huang, vice president of CUP's international division, said the agreement is key to facilitating access to cash for the growing number of CUP members' cardholders visiting Australia.

'We are pleased to partner with First Direct to offer our cardholders greater convenience, and we look forward to working with them on future initiatives as we expand our presence globally,' he said.
