Madrid shares AFX at a glance outlook

MADRID (AFX) - Shares are expected to open higher after a record close on Wall Street overnight and positive sentiment after upbeat comments from European Central Bank head Jean-Claude Trichet on the Eurozone economy yesterday, dealers said.

Yesterday, the IBEX-35 index closed 212.7 points higher at 14,328.8, after trading in a range of 14,105-14,328 on volume of 5.9 bln eur.

The January future on the IBEX-35 index closed at 14,327, down from 14,095 Wednesday on volume of about 20,813 contracts.

MARKET COMMENT

-The broad market is expected to open higher, continuing their recovery after a record close on Wall Street and positive outlook for the European economy.

-The players in the Endesa saga will be in focus after news E.ON has asked stock market regulator the CNMV to investigate possible collusion between Acciona and Gas Natural.

-Acerinox is expected to come under pressure after Goldman Sachs downgraded the stock to 'sell' from 'neutral' citing concerns about the outlook for steel prices in 2007.
