FRANKFURT (AFX) - An end to the dispute between Novartis AG and Bayer AG regarding multiple sclerosis drug Betaseron could be in sight, a source told AFX News.A law suit filed by Schering - acquired by Bayer last year and now called Bayer Schering Pharma AG - is likely to be postponed to begin Feb 20 from Jan 16, said the source.Financial Times Deutschland cited a letter written by Bayer and Novartis requesting the postponement 'in order to enable an agreement between the two parties'.The law suit relates to a licence application which would identify Schering as a second producer of Betaseron - the first being Novartis's subsidiary Chiron Corp. The source told AFX News: 'When there is a mutual accord between two parties requesting a deferment to a court case, it is very likely that this will be implemented.'In another ongoing issue, Schering is in negotiations to acquire the assets needed to produce Betaseron in the US.'This separate issue is also progressing in a constructive manner,' added the source.krysia.diver@afxnews.comkd/lamCOPYRIGHTCopyright AFX News Limited 2006.
