Napster to provide service for AOL Music |

LOS ANGELES (AFX) - AOL, a unit of Time Warner Inc., said Friday that online music retailer Napster Inc. will become the exclusive music subscription provider for AOL Music, replacing its AOL Music Now service.The company said about 350,000 Music Now subscribers will be transferred to Napster's digital music subscription service -- unless they decide to opt out -- and that it will post links to Napster throughout AOL Music.Napster said it will recreate the customers' existing personal Music Now music libraries, including any original playlists they have created. It will also save and keep Music Now's current pricing tiers for migrating subscribers and transfer any prepaid track credits they have in their accounts.The service transfer is expected to be complete within the next 60 days.Financial terms of the deal were not disclosed.Copyright 2006 Associated Press.
