Advancis says Keflex sales miss target |

GERMANTOWN, Md. (AFX) - Advancis Pharmaceutical Corp. said Friday it expects to report that 2006 sales of its antibiotic Keflex fell short of forecasts after the 750 milligram version did not spur demand as expected.Keflex sales came in at $5 million for the year, missing Advancis forecasts for $7 million to $10 million. The drug's 250 milligram and 500 milligram versions were available all year, while the 750 milligram capsule was introduced in the last five months of 2006.'While our Keflex 750 product sales have continued to increase month over month, we did not experience the rapid sales uptake in late 2006 that we previously anticipated,' the company said.Advancis shares fell 4 cents to $3.26 in early trading on the Nasdaq.Copyright 2006 Associated Press.
