Pennichuck completes phase 2 of upgrade |

MERRIMACK, N.H. (AFX) - Water utility Pennichuck Corp. said Friday it completed the second phase of a $40 million upgrade to its water treatment plant in Nashua, N.H.The work includes a new finished water pumping station, a new 6.5 million gallon finished water storage tank, a new backwash holding tank and finished water chemical feed facilities. The third phase of the upgrade will be completed over the next two years and will include the construction of a new water inlet system as well as upgrades to the plant's clarification, filtration and chemical feed facilities.Shares of Pennichuck rose 17 cents to $21.22 on the Nasdaq in afternoon trading.Copyright 2006 Associated Press.
