Verasun completes new ethanol plant |

BROOKINGS, S.D. (AP) - Ethanol producer Verasun Energy Corp. on Thursday said it has started operations at a new ethanol plant three months ahead of schedule, boosting its annual capacity by roughly a third.The Charles City, Iowa, plant has capacity to produce 110 million gallons of ethanol per year. The new plant brings Verasun's total capacity to 340 million gallons annually.The plant is expected to reach full production within 45 days.Verasun has two more ethanol plants under construction in Hartley, Iowa, and Welcome, Minn.Shares of Verasun rose 25 cents to $20.82 in morning trading on the New York Stock Exchange.Copyright 2007 Associated Press.
