OAK CREEK, Wis. (AP) - Delphi Corporation has told the state it expects to close its powertrain-systems plant in Oak Creek by the end of the year, laying off about 200 employees.The layoffs include mostly manufacturing positions and are expected to be permanent.The auto-parts supplier is based in Troy, Michigan. It used to be part of General Motors Corporation before it was spun off as a separate company in 1999.Delphi had filed for Chapter 11 bankruptcy in 2005. But last week it filed a reorganization plan with a federal bankruptcy court that would enable it to leave bankruptcy protection by the end of the year.Oak Creek is about 15 miles south of downtown Milwaukee.Copyright 2007 Associated Press.
