Aker Exploration acquires 35 pct stake in Norwegian Sea license near Oseberg

OSLO (Thomson Financial) - Aker Exploration said it has acquired a 35 pct stake in production license 343 in the northern Norwegian Sea for an undisclosed sum.

'PL343 in the vicinity of the Oseberg field strengthens Aker Exploration's position in one of our target areas,' said chief executive Bard Johansen.

Marathon Petroleum Norge, the PL343 operator, will retain a 42.25 pct interest in the license, while Talisman will have the remaining 22.75 pct.

'No decision has yet been made as to when exploration drilling will commence,' Aker Exploration said.
