PRAGUE (AFX) - Czech Transport Minister Ales Rebicek said Tuesday he favoured a long-term lease rather than sale of state-controlled Prague airport.'Personally I prefer outsourcing, that is a long-term lease of the airport rather than its sale. It is a strategic item which should stay in the state's possession,' he added in a news conference. The centre-right coalition included Central Europe's busiest airport on its list of privatisations at the start of the year as its seeks cash to curb a ballooning budget deficit.Czech media speculated earlier this year that the airport, which handled 11.58 million passengers in 2006, could be sold for around 2.3 bln eur (3.0 bln usd). The weekly Tyden said that international groups, such as German construction giant Hochtief, the company managing Frankfurt airport, Fraport, the Australian-based Macquarie Bank, the Czech investment group, PPF, and the Slovak investment groups Penta and J&T would be possible buyers.newsdesk@afxnews.comafp/jlcCOPYRIGHTCopyright AFX News Limited 2007.
