JAKARTA (Thomson Financial) - Domestic car sales in August rose 8 percent from the preceding month to 41,470 and was 48 percent higher on an annualised basis, the country's biggest car dealer PT Toyota Astra Motor said Friday.Toyota Astra's car sales reached 13,492 during the month, an increase of 4.4 percent from July and was 33 percent higher than a year earlier.Toyota Astra is a 51-49 percent joint venture between PT Astra International and Japan's Toyota Motor Corp.The cumulative industry-wide car sales in the first eight months surged 38.9 percent to 277,188, while that of Toyota Astra was up 20 percent at 95,511.aloysius.bhui@thomson.comab/jgCOPYRIGHTCopyright AFX News Limited 2007.
