Italy's Gas Plus mulling tie-up opportunities with Enia, Linea Group |

MILAN (Thomson Financial) - Gas Plus SpA, Italy's fourth-largest domestic gas producer, is considering tie-up opportunities in Italy with medium-sized utilities like Enia SpA and Linea Group, the daily MF reported, citing Gas Plus main shareholder Davide Usberti.Usberti said the company is looking for opportunities both at home and abroad.'In Italy we are monitoring the situation as regards medium-sized companies like Enia and Linea Group,' he said.The listed Enia includes the local utilities of Piacenza Reggio Emilia and Parma while Linea Group comprises the utilities of Cremona, Lodi, Rovato and Pavia.Usberti said that outside Italy the company is interested in spin-off operations by large energy groups which leave certain geographical areas such as the North Sea to focus on regions further afield.Gas Plus has upstream gas interests via joint ventures in the North Sea.Usberti said the company is also interested in bidding for new gas exploration licenses in Eastern Europe.stephen.jewkes@thomson.comsj/tcCOPYRIGHTCopyright Thomson Financial News Limited 2007.
