China B-shares close sharply higher following A-share rally - UPDATE |

SHANGHAI (XFN-ASIA) - China B-shares closed sharply higher with sentiment boosted by strong gains in the A-share market and overseas bourses, dealers said.Large caps such as Inner Mongolia Yitai Coal and Bengang Steel Plates led the gainers.The Shanghai B-share Index rose 14.73 points or 4.46 pct to 344.76 on turnover of 706.68 mln usd and the Shenzhen B-share Index rose 24.31 points or 3.49 pct at 721.42 on turnover of 436.53 mln hkd.'Investors were spurred by strong gains in A-shares and Hong Kong market,' said a Shanghai-based analyst who asked not to be named.In Shanghai, Inner Mongolia Yitai Coal Co Ltd (SHB 900948) surged 0.692 usd or 8.45 pct to 8.884.Shanghai Jinjiang International Travel Co Ltd (SHB 900929) added 0.153 usd to 2.291.In Shenzhen, Bengang Steel Plates Co Ltd (SZB 200761; SZA 000761) added 0.70 hkd to 8.00.Glass producer CSG Holding Co Ltd (SZB 200012; SZA 000012) rose 0.56 hkd to 9.46.The FTSE/Xinhua China B 35 Index was up 465.28 points at 11,700.45.(1 usd = 7.43 yuan)lilian.wu@xfn.com
