LONDON (Thomson Financial) - John Lewis Partnership, the employee-owned retailer, said week to Dec 8 sales at its chain of 187 Waitrose supermarkets increased 5.3 pct to 84.5 mln stg compared to the same week last year.The figures exclude the contribution from the new foodhall at the John Lewis flagship store on Oxford Street, London.Sales at the retailer's 26 department stores, including the foodhall, increased 6.7 pct to 96.2 mln stg. They were up 5.2 pct excluding the foodhall.Total partnership sales over the week increased 5.9 pct to 180.7 mln stg.Yesterday, John Lewis said department store sales from Sunday Dec 9 to Wednesday Dec 12 increased 7.4 pct compared to the same period last year.The retailer will publish department stores sales data for the full week to Dec 15 on Sunday.tf.TFN-Europe_newsdesk@thomson.comjddCOPYRIGHTCopyright Thomson Financial News Limited 2007.
