Novell names Dana Russell CFO

WALTHAM, Mass. (AP) - Open-source software distributor Novell Inc. said Wednesday it appointed interim Chief Financial Officer Dana Russell to permanent CFO.

Russell, 45, has served as an interim CFO since June 2006, when former Chief Executive Officer Jack Messman and CFO Joseph Tibbetts Jr. left the company amid board concerns about a lackluster financial performance and sagging stock price.

Shares of Novell rose a penny t0 $7.10 in morning trading on the Nasdaq.
