BRUSSELS (AFX) - The European Commission said the deadline for its inquiry into French supermarket group Carrefour's proposed 375 mln eur acquisition of Dutch peer Royal Ahold NV's Polish retail operations is extended to April 11.The original deadline was March 23.The commission extends inquiries by ten working days in cases where a national competition authority has asked for jurisdiction, or where the companies have offered remedies to competition concerns raised during the investigation.Ahold hopes to finalise the sale sometime in the first half of 2007.Ahold currently operates 179 supermarkets under the 'Albert' brand, four 'Hypernova' hypermarkets and four gas stations in Poland.
