ATHENS (AFX) - Greek lottery operator OPAP is expected to make a key decison today on a tender to supply it with IT and terminals, for which Intralot is in competition with international heavyweights GTEC and Scientific Games, sources close to the matter said.OPAP will analyze the tenders to make sure that each bidder can fulfil the technical requirements of the brief, they said. The tender has been beset by rumors of delays, they added, and a decision on the technical aspect of the bid is seen as an important step forward for Intralot.Sources said this tender is crucial for Intralot, as a positive outcome will secure the company's place in the international market of online betting and preserve its dominance in its home market.Currently, American GTEC holds 70 pct of international market share in online betting while other American rival Scientific Games has 14 pct. Intralot holds the worlds third largest market share in online betting at 5 pct.Intralot has suffered the collapse in Russia of its Moscow lottery and there are legal clouds over its tender win in Turkey, the sources added. The sources underline that a successful outcome in this tender would increase the appeal of Intralot to foreign private equity funds.Market sources have previously said that Intralot's main shareholders are interested in selling their majority stakes in the company.Source: Euro2day.gr NewsWirecheryl@euro2day.grcn/harCOPYRIGHTCopyright AFX News Limited 2007.
