Starwood in deal for 2 hotels in Japan |

WHITE PLAINS, N.Y. (AP) - Hotel operator Starwood Hotels & Resorts Worldwide Inc. said Wednesday it entered a deal with a unit of Kintetsu Corp. to open two Sheraton hotels in Japan.The 492-room Miyako Tokyo Hotel will be renamed the Sheraton Miyako Hotel Tokyo, while the 575-room Miyako Osaka Hotel will be called the Sheraton Miyako Hotel Osaka. The changes will take place next month.The agreement is part of Starwood's plan to expand its brand presence in Asia. The company currently operates 14 hotels in Japan under the Le Meridien, Sheraton and Westin brands.Renovations to the Tokyo hotel include upgrades to guestrooms and the health club. The Osaka hotel will upgrade its rooms and meeting space.Starwood's shares fell 44 cents to $62.73 in morning trading on the New York Stock Exchange.Copyright 2007 Associated Press.
