TOKYO (Thomson Financial) - Bank of Japan Governor Toshihiko Fukui said Monday the central bank needs to continue closely monitoring trends in the international financial market, as it has remained volatile amid the lingering aftermath of subprime home loan problems in the US.In a speech marking the start of the BOJ's branch managers meeting, the central banker also said trends in the global economy also require attention.'There are uncertain factors about the world economy, including the risk of downturn in the US economy,' Fukui said.Even so, Japan's financial system remains stable overall, he said.'At this point, the subprime loan problems are not seen as a factor which may bring about a major impact on the stability of our country's financial system,' Fukui said.yumiko.nishitani@thomson.com.yun/ngCOPYRIGHTCopyright Thomson Financial News Limited 2007.
