WASHINGTON (AP) - Cruise Lines International Association spent more than $825,000 in the first six months of 2007 to lobby the federal government, according to a disclosure form.The trade group lobbied on U.S. visa, travel and customs inspection policies, crew and passenger health, waste management and garbage landing ashore, protection of the marine environment and numerous other issues, according to the form posted online Oct. 4 by the Senate's public records office.The Fort Lauderdale, Fla.-based group -- including Walt Disney Co.'s Disney Cruise Line, Royal Caribbean Cruises Ltd. and Carnival Corp.'s Carnival Cruise Line among its 24 members -- lobbied Congress, the Homeland Security, Transportation and State departments, U.S. Coast Guard and numerous other agencies.Under a federal law enacted in 1995, lobbyists are required to disclose activities that could influence members of the executive and legislative branches.
