Danish shares lower midmorning; DS Norden, Carlsberg outperform |

COPENHAGEN (Thomson Financial) - Danish shares were lower midmorning following losses on Wall Street and Asian markets but DS Norden AS traded higher following a guidance upgrade, and Carlsberg AS outperformed slightly as the brewer and Dutch peer Heineken NV raised their bid for Scottish & Newcastle PLC.At 10.30 am, the OMXC20 index was down 1.48 pct at 482.11 and the OMXCB Benchmark index shed 1.46 pct to 458.62.Carlsberg AS was down 0.62 pct at 644.00. The brewer and Heineken said they have raised the bid for S&N to 750 pence per share from 720.The consortium said the new offer is a 'full and fair' price valuing S&N at an equity value of 7.3 bln stg and an enterprise value of about 9.7 bln.Following S&N's rejection of the initial bid and its refusal to engage in discussions, the consortium said it decided to provide details of its increased proposal directly to the market.DS Norden AS gained 1.29 pct to 549.00. The shipping transport group raised its net profit guidance to 670-700 mln usd from 560-590 mln due to 'the strong development and the company's positioning in the dry bulk market during the fourth quarter'.AP Moller Maersk AS was down 0.74 pct at 67,400. The transport group will be hit by falling container freight rates, ING said, according to RB Boersen news agency.Lundbeck AS shed 2.94 pct to 148.50 on profit-taking after yesterday's upturn.Among other heavily traded shares, Vestas Wind Systems AS was down 2.22 pct at 485.50, FLSmidth AS fell 3.46 pct to 488.50 and Coloplast AS shed 2.61 pct to 466.00.gustav.sandstrom@thomson.comgs/ms1COPYRIGHTCopyright Thomson Financial News Limited 2007.
