India's L&T-Paul Wurth consortium wins blast furnace order worth 5.80 bln rupees |

MUMBAI (Thomson Financial) - Larsen & Toubro Ltd, India's biggest construction and engineering company, said its consortium with Paul Wurth Italia SpA has won an order worth 5.80 bln rupees from Steel Authority of India Ltd (SAIL).Under the agreement, the consortium will upgrade a blast furnace at SAIL's Bokaro Steel Plant in the eastern Indian state of Jharkhand. Of the total project revenue, L&T's share is 3.55 bln rupees.The project will be completed in 21 months and will include a shutdown of 150 days, L&T said in a filing to the Bombay Stock Exchange.L&T and Paul Wurth are already working on a 2.5 mln tonnes per year blast furnace for Tata Steel Ltd in Jamshedpur and in carrying out similar blast furnace orders for Rashtriya Ispat Nigam Ltd's Vizag Steel Plant and for Bhushan Steel Ltd's Meramandali plant in the eastern Indian state of Orissa.TFN.newsdesk@thomson.comyos/ssa/ms1COPYRIGHTCopyright Thomson Financial News Limited 2007.
