TOKYO (XFN-ASIA) - The number of apartments in condominiums sold in metropolitan Tokyo last month fell 19.4 pctfrom a year earlier to 4,804, the Real Estate Economic Institute said.In January, sales dropped 11.6 pct.In metropolitan Osaka, the number of apartments sold last month rose 21.9 pct year-on-year to 3,392, following a 23.7 pct decline in January.The average price of an apartment in a condominium in Tokyo was 46.21 mln yen in February, 15.7 pct more than a year earlier. The average price per square meter of apartments in condominiums was 614,000 yen, up 14.8 pct from a year ago.In metropolitan Osaka, the average price of an apartment in a condominium last month was 33.46 mln yen, down 0.6 pct from a year earlier, while the average price per square meter increased 4.0 pct to 447,000 yen.The institute's data for metropolitan Tokyo cover sales within the capital and the neighboring prefectures of Kanagawa, Chiba and Saitama, but not Ibaraki prefecture.The data for metropolitan Osaka cover sales within the city and the neighboring prefectures of Hyogo, Kyoto, Shiga, Nara and Wakayama.(1 usd = 117.24 yen)kaori.kaneko@xfn.comkk/mas
