Ericsson buys remaining 79 pct of Swedish IP-messaging firm Mobeon

STOCKHOLM (AFX) - LM Ericsson AB said it will acquire the remaining 79 pct of IP-messaging firm Mobeon AB it does not own, in order to strengthen its multimedia strategy.

Ericsson said Mobeon, which has 130 employees, is the world leader in IP-messaging components for mobile and fixed networks.

Mobeon produces the key component of Ericsson's Messaging over IP (MoIP) product - an IP-based voice and video-mail solution for telecom operators.

'This deal represents yet another step in Ericsson's strategy to become the leader in multimedia,' Ericsson said.

The purchase price was not disclosed.
