VIENNA (AFX) - Austrian bio-tech company Intercell and Danish Statens Serum Institut (SSI) said that their new collaborative tuberculosis vaccine proved safe and very immunogenic in healthy individuals in a phase I clinical trial.Based on these results, the companies intend to initiate another clinical trial later in 2007.The new tuberculosis vaccine combines two important tuberculosis antigens from SSI with Intercell's adjuvant IC31, which enhances the effectiveness of the vaccine.'These results prove the scientific concept of our adjuvant and encourage a broad and commercial use of IC31 in a variety of prophylactic and therapeutic vaccines,' Intercell said.andreas.vogler@thomson.comav/cmrCOPYRIGHTCopyright AFX News Limited 2007.
