HELSINKI (AFX) - The three main parties are virtually neck and neck in the race to win Sunday's parliamentary elections in Finland, a Gallup poll commissioned by the Helsingin Sanomat shows.Voter support for the Centre Party was unchanged from a February poll at 23.3 pct, giving it a slender lead over its junior coalition partner, the Social Democrats, with 22.6 pct.Last month's survey had put the Social Democrats a nose in front of the Centre Party. They are closely trailed by the opposition, the conservative National Coalition Party, which has grown support to 22.1 pct from 21.1 pct.The smaller opposition parties, the Left Alliance and the Greens, got 9.7 pct and 8.2 pct respectively.Traditionally, the party receiving the highest number of votes will build the government, forming a coalition to obtain a majority in parliament.None of the three main contenders has indicated which parties it would seek to collaborate with if it wins. The current government, in power since 2003, is formed by the Centre Party, the Social Democratic Party and the Swedish People's Party.james.etheridge@thomson.comje/dvgCOPYRIGHTCopyright AFX News Limited 2007.
