DXP Enterprises 4Q profit rises |

HOUSTON (AP) - Maintenance and repair equipment maker DXP Enterprises Inc. said Thursday its fourth-quarter profit rose 68 percent.The company earned $3.5 million, or 61 cents per share, compared with a profit of $2.1 million, or 36 cents per share, during the same period a year prior. Revenue rose to $79.4 million from $54.7 million.Sales from products in four acquired businesses in 2006 accounted for $9.2 million of the revenue increase, the company said.For the full year, the company earned $11.9 million, or $2.08 per share, compared with a profit of $5.5 million, or 94 cents per share, in 2005. Revenue rose to $279.8 million from $185.4 million.Shares of DXP Enterprises fell 11 cents to $32.89 in after-hours trading. In aftermarket activity, the shares spiked $3.20, or 9.7 percent, to $36.20. The stock has ranged from $20.60 to $59.24 over the past year.Copyright 2007 Associated Press. All rights reserved.
