Algeria's Sonatrach in talks to acquire 5 pct of EDP - report

LISBON (AFX) - Algerian state-owned oil and gas company Sonatrach is in talks to acquire a 5 pct stake in EDP Energias de Portugal SA, Expresso reported Saturday, without citing a source.

According to the financial weekly, talks between EDP and Sonatrach were practically on the rocks, but both the Portuguese government and EDP will be making a special effort to reach an agreement with the Algerian company over the next couple of weeks.
