Hong Kong's Hutchison Telecom launches mobile ops in Vietnam

HONG KONG (XFN-ASIA) - Hutchison Telecommunications International Ltd said it has launched a nation-wide mobile phone service in Vietnam, through unit HT Mobile.

HONG KONG (XFN-ASIA) - Hutchison Telecommunications International Ltd said it has launched a nation-wide mobile phone service in Vietnam, through unit HT Mobile.

HT Mobile will offer services using the CDMA2000 standard, under a licence granted to a partnership between Hutchison Telecom and Hanoi Telecom Joint Stock Co, it said in a statement.

Chief executive officer Dennis Lui said HT Mobile's launch marks a significant step forward in Hutchison Telecom's efforts to achieve growth through investment in high-potential markets.

HT Mobile will provide Vietnamese customers advanced wireless voice and high-speed

multi-media data services, flexible call plans as well as a wide choice of handsets, Hutchison Telecom said.
