Lisbon shares AFX market data at 10.29 am - Sonaecom up after bid registered

LISBON (AFX) - Market data at 10.29 am:

PSI-20 index up 20.36 points or 0.18 pct at 11,537.03.

Major gainers

-Sonaecom up 0.10 eur or 1.68 pct at 6.05, on expectations for success in its bid for Portugal Telecom after the CMVM formally registered the offer late Friday. Zeinal Bava, deputy chairman of Portugal Telecom SGPS, even mooted the idea of a bid for Sonaecom if the alternative telecoms provider fails with the 10.7 bln eur offer for its larger rival.

-Retailer Jeronimo Martins up 0.58 or 3.22 pct at 18.58, ahead of expected bullish full year sales due tomorrow.

-Sonae, Sonaecom's parent company, up 0.03 eur or 1.80 pct at 1.70, benefiting from its telecom unit's performance

-EDP up 0.02 or 0.25 at 3.98 after Expresso reported that Algeria's Sonatrach is in talks to acquire 5 pct of the company.

Major fallers

-Portugal Telecom down 0.03 or 0.29 pct at 10.17 after Sonaecom's bid for the telecoms incumbent was formally registered late Friday at its original price of 9.5 eur per share, and after comments by the telecom's number two that PT could counter Sonaecom's bid by bidding for the Porto-based company itself.

-PT cable and media unit PT Multimedia down 0.07 or at 10.28.

-BCP down 0.01 at 2.82.

-Brisa, off 0.05 at 9.56.
