Tele2 Russia to expand GSM operations into 17 new regions |

STOCKHOLM (Thomson Financial) - Tele2 AB said it has been awarded three new GSM 1800 licenses in the regions of Novosibirsk, Tomsk and Evenkia in Siberia, and been allocated a further 14 licences.The three regions have a total population of 3.7 mln, and Tele2 said it plans to invest in mobile networks and launch commercial service in these regions by the end of 2009.'In addition to the three awarded licenses the tender commission has allocated an additional 14 licenses to Tele2 and it is expected that the formal award of these licenses will occur shortly.
