DEERFIELD, Ill. (AP) - United Stationers Inc., a distributor of office products, on Thursday said fourth-quarter net income rose 43 percent, helped by a gain from a product content syndication and marketing program.Quarterly earnings totaled $33.6 million, or $1.10 per share, from $23.5 million, or 72 cents per share during the year-ago period. Excluding a gain related to product content syndication and marketing program income, net income was 98 cents per share.Revenue grew 4 percent to $1.11 billion, from $1.07 billion in the prior-year quarter.Analysts polled by Thomson Financial predicted a profit of 83 cents per share on revenue of $1.18 billion.For the year, net income rose 36 percent to $132.2 million, or $4.21 per share, from $97.5 million, or $2.90 per share in 2005. Revenue grew 6 percent to $4.55 billion, from $4.28 billion in 2005.Shares of United Stationers added 8 cents to close at $52.16 on the Nasdaq Stock Market.Copyright 2006 Associated Press.
